Italian Embassy in Paris hosts Vega Day event

Present new Vega C space launcher opportunities.

(ANSA) - ROMA, 18 SET - As part of World Space Business Week, the Italian Embassy hosted Vega Day, an event dedicated to the 12 years of operation of the Vega space launcher and the prospects for the return to flight and commercialisation of the enhanced version of the launcher, Vega C. In this context, the particularly versatile and flexible characteristics of Vega C, designed and built by the Italian company Avio as part of an Esa programme, were illustrated.
    In her introductory speech, Ambassador Emanuela D'Alessandro emphasised how the European space industry had gone through a complex phase, which nevertheless offered the opportunity for a new beginning. This is the context of the imminent prospect of the return to flight of Vega C, by the end of 2024, which will fully restore Europe's autonomous access to space. Recalling Italy's passionate history in the international space sector, the Ambassador recalled that "aerospace is one of the sectors of the future for Made in Italy, with over 7.2 billion euros mobilised to make Italy a leader in the space economy". The event was attended, among others, by the Representative of Italy to International Organisations, Luca Sabbatucci, the Director General of Esa, Josef Aschbacher, the President of the Italian Space Agency, Teodoro Valente, the CEO of Avio, Giulio Ranzo
