(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, 19 SET - The sixth EU-India Water Forum held yesterday in New Delhi concluded with an agreement between the EU and India to enhance cooperation on river water management, foster innovation and technology exchange, and promote sustainable investments.
The Forum was attended by government representatives, parliamentarians, business representatives and experts; for the European Union, Ambassador for India Hervé Delphin was present.
Thanks to the India-EU Water Partnership (Iewp) established in 2016, now in its 3rd phase, the EU and India are working together on the management of the Tapi and Ramganga river basins, and will extend the engagement to other Indian waterways, including the Brahmaputra. Iewpa has already funded seven research and innovation projects with a total expenditure of EUR 37.4 million, involving 743 stakeholders.
The Forum also explored trilateral collaboration between East Africa, India and the European Union for interventions on Lake Victoria and Tanganyika focusing on drinking water treatment and real-time monitoring systems.
