(ANSA) - ROMA, 27 SET - The Italian Embassy in Madrid opens its doors on the occasion of the 2024 edition of the 'Open House Madrid' initiative, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. This is the international festival of architecture in Madrid that, at the end of September, opens to the public around a hundred buildings and architectural studios that are normally closed, as well as promoting guided outdoor tours.
For the occasion, the Italian Embassy welcomes groups of visitors who will be able to get to know and appreciate the history and architectural jewels of the Amboage Palace, seat of the diplomatic representation. The palace, formerly owned by the Marquis de Amboage, was built in the early 20th century by Spanish architect Joaquín Rojí. In 1939 it was bought by the Italian Government, which made it the seat of the Italian Embassy in Spain. The complex occupies an entire block including, in addition to the main building, a garden with an extension of 680 square metres. In the palace, numerous works of art, mostly on temporary loan from major Italian museums, embellish the reception rooms.
