(ANSA) - ROMA, 01 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Brazzaville, Enrico Nunziata, inaugurated a new edition of the '100 vases' exhibition organised, in collaboration with Eni and the Congolese Ministry of Cultural Industry, at the African Circle Museum in Pointe Noire. The ambassador thanked the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Handicrafts, Jacqueline Lydia Mikono, for her participation in the event.
'One Hundred Vases' is a cultural outreach initiative, focusing on the repertoire of vases from the beginning of the last century to the present day. The vase is a domestic object, a tool, but at the same time a decorative and artistic object. The museum hosting the exhibition, the African Circle Museum, bears witness to the varied cultural heritage of the Republic of Congo. During colonial times, this site marked the border where the native Congolese, despite having acquired French nationality, were forbidden to cross the 'Cercle Civil', the exclusive enclave of the French elite. The building that houses the museum, which started out as a Court of Justice, then fell into disuse before the Congolese state, in collaboration with Eni Congo, gave it a new lease of life, turning it into a museum under the auspices of Unesco.
