(ANSA) - GINEVRA, 03 OTT - During the 89th session of the Global Forum for Road Traffic Safety, held from 23 to 27 September in Geneva, the member countries of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) unanimously re-elected Luciana Iorio, a representative of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, to chair the forum.
The Road Safety Forum," a communiqué from the Italian Representation to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva issued today said, "is a permanent intergovernmental body of the United Nations, with the task of improving road safety and preventing accidents, in line with the objectives of the Second United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030).
In this edition, the forum addressed topics of great relevance for the future of mobility, including the introduction of new rules for the movement of autonomous vehicles, training and information for road users, cooperation to improve safe mobility in low- and middle-income countries, and ethical and liability issues concerning policies for highly automated vehicles.
Iorio's reappointment at the helm of the Forum, which meets twice a year, is further evidence of the leading role Italy plays in the implementation of road safety policies, both nationally and internationally.

At the 89th session in Geneva
