(ANSA) - ZAGABRIA, 07 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Zagreb, Paolo Trichilo, was received by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Davor Božinović. The meeting was an opportunity to take stock of the excellent cooperation between Italy and Croatia, as witnessed by the cooperation between the police forces and the regular contacts also at the political level, most recently the trilateral meeting of the Interior Ministers of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia scheduled for 14 October in Zaprešić (near Zagreb). The colloquium also allowed to reaffirm the commitment to continue working together to effectively tackle irregular migration, a challenge common to all EU states. In this regard, Minister Božinović, while appreciating Italy's effective management of the central Mediterranean migratory route, referred to Croatia's commitment to containing the flows on the Balkan route and to the results achieved (-58% of arrivals in 2024 compared to last year), hoping for adequate technical and financial support from the new EU Commission in the difficult management of the phenomenon.
