Ambassador in Kiev at the table organised by Alda on governance

(ANSA) - ROMA, 17 OTT - The Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, took part in the meeting organised by Alda (European Association for Local Democracy,) in Kiev, focused on local governance and decentralisation, central aspects of the reform path in Ukraine and decisive for its path towards accession to the European Union. In his speech, the ambassador stressed the importance of local governance in the reconstruction process.
    "Local authorities must be protagonists of the recovery, thanks to their closeness to the communities," said Formosa, reiterating Italy's support for decentralisation and international cooperation. The meeting, which involved institutional, local, and international organisation representatives, addressed crucial issues such as resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainability, with an eye on future opportunities for collaboration, also in view of the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference (URC) to be held in Rome next July.
