(ANSA) - PRISTINA, 17 OTT - As part of the celebrations of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, at the UBT University the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo Antonello De Riu, together with the Rector Prof Hajrizi, announced the opening of the first Celi Certification Centre of the University of Foreigners of Perugia, a significant step for the dissemination of the Italian language in Kosovo.
Starting in January 2025, Kosovar students will have the opportunity to take Italian language certification exams directly on the UBT campus, avoiding costly trips to Albania or Montenegro to take exams in Italian.
In a speech delivered before a large audience of local students and professors who had come for the occasion, Ambassador De Riu, thanking Rector Hajrizi for his strategic vision and innovative approach, emphasised that the new educational offer is not only an achievement for UBT, but also an important resource that opens new doors for the linguistic and cultural education of students in Kosovo.
"Italian is a language that encompasses a vast heritage of history, art and culture, making it not only a means of communication, but also a bridge to a unique heritage rooted in European and Mediterranean history," said De Riu. "Italian is not only the language of great classical literature, but also the medium of expression of the arts, of Renaissance architecture, design and fashion, of which Italy is a benchmark for trends. Certifying one's Italian in Kosovo connects one to these cultural influences, enriching the skills and knowledge needed in an increasingly globalised world to be more competitive in the job market. As the Italian Embassy, together with the UBT, we are here to support you on this path,' Ambassador De Riu concluded.
