(ANSA) - MADRID, 18 OTT - In the futuristic setting of the International Astronautical Congress 2024, at the MiCo in Milan, a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in space activities for peaceful purposes between the Italian space agency, Asi, and the Spanish space agency, Aee, was signed on 17 October. The agreement was drawn up on the basis of initiatives by the Italian Embassy in Madrid and the ICE Agency.
The agreement was signed on the Italian side by professor Teodoro Valente, president of Asi, and on the Spanish side by the director of the Aee, Juan Carlos Cortés.
The agreement envisages collaboration in some of the most strategic sectors of aerospace, such as earth observation for environmental monitoring, the sustainability of satellite navigation, and the renewed drive for space exploration, including with human crews. As a result of the agreement, an inaugural event will take place in Spain in early 2025, with the involvement of Italian and Spanish companies in the core sectors of the protocol.
