(ANSA) - ROMA, 18 OTT - "Together with the Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, we visited the centre of the Community of Sant'Egidio in Kiev. This visit is a continuation of our meeting in the summer in Rome with the head of the Community, Adriano Roccucci, where we discussed important aspects of support for the most vulnerable in Ukraine". This was written on X by the Vice-President of the Ukrainian Parliament, Olena Kondratyuk, emphasising that "the centre helps about 200 families every week, providing them with food, clothes and providing psychological support to the displaced people who have suffered as a result of the war. Hot lunches for the elderly and homeless are also prepared here every Saturday and food parcels are delivered to Kiev neighbourhoods'.
"The consort of the Italian Ambassador, Mrs. Monica Bartoli, works as a volunteer at the centre together with others. The provenance of the volunteers speaks for itself: Beryslav, Nova Kakhovka, Bakhmut, Alchevsk, Berdyansk, Melitopol. The Sant'Egidio centres in Ukraine are located in Kiev, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk. The volunteers do a great job supporting those most in need. It is an honour for me to witness their activities. People with huge hearts work here! Thank you very much for your work,' concluded the Vice-President.
