(ANSA) - ROMA, 28 OTT - An exhibition of illustrations by cartoonist Fabio Magnasciutti opens on 1 November at the Italian Cultural Institute in Chicago. The exhibition, 'Tell Me Something Beautiful', which will be opened in the presence of the artist, aims to demonstrate how words can overcome the limits of communication thanks to the figurative power of images.
In the illustrations presented by Magnasciutti in this solo exhibition, words and images become inseparable parts of the same story, which is universal, able to speak to the public regardless of the limits of strictly verbal communication. In four thematic sections, the exhibition offers the viewer a reflection on interpersonal relationships, and how these influence the future of society. Characterised by a highly personal style, Magnasciutti's cartoons move between an engaging emotional depth and sometimes irreverent irony, and offer glimpses of everyday life, composing an ever-changing mosaic from which a complex yet recognisable image of contemporary society emerges. In preparation for the exhibition, Magnasciutti conducted a workshop for 40 students from Columbia College Chicago, in collaboration with artist Cecilia Beaven. The students learned to use the technique of grattage to develop original illustrations, which will then be put on display in a dedicated section of 'Tell Me Something Beautiful'.
