Amb. Silvestri, great success for SLIM 2024 in North Macedonia

(ANSA) - SKOPJE, 31 OTT - Yesterday evening, the closing event of the Italian Language Week in the World, organised by the Macedonian Association of Italian Teachers, took place, during which the activities carried out by Italian language pupils and students from more than twenty schools throughout North Macedonia and the University of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Skopje within the framework of the SLIM and dedicated to the theme of Italian and the book were presented. The numerous exhibitions, interactive quizzes, video reviews and literary readings showed that the Italian book continues to be a source of inspiration for young people, who expressed their creativity through knowledge of proverbs from the Italian folk tradition or Petrarch's sonnets. "This year in North Macedonia the Italian Language Week in the World practically extended for the whole month, with events preceding and following the 'canonical' period of the SLIM (the third week of October)," said Ambassador Andrea Silvestri. Alongside moments dedicated to literature and linguistics, such as the event just concluded, the Conference for the sixty-fifth anniversary of the teaching of Italian at UKIM and other seminars, also in other cities of the country, musical performances of great quality and variety were offered, such as the concert-event dedicated to Puccini, 100 years after his death, starring Blagoj Nacoski with the students of his masterclass, but also the performance - organised together with the Swiss Embassy - of Mattak and Funky Nano, young Italo-Swiss rappers who demonstrated the full compatibility of our language with this genre as well. Great prominence was also given to theatre, with the show 'La lezione di teatro' and to mountain cinema with the screening of the film 'La traccia di Toni' as part of the 'Eho' festival.
    "In short, a broad and diverse offer that once again demonstrated the great tradition and vibrant dynamism of our language, and which was greatly appreciated by the Macedonian public," the Ambassador concluded.
