(ANSA) - BERLINO, 31 OTT - Edith Pichler, lecturer at the University of Potsdam, received, at the hands of the Italian Ambassador to Germany Armando Varricchio, the Honour of the Order of the Star of Italy, in the rank of Officer, granted by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. The diplomatic office announced this in a note.
The important honour is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of ties with Italy, such as Professor Pichler, who "for years has represented a point of reference in studies on the Italian community in Germany and whose contribution has made it possible to get to know the Italians living in this country better," Ambassador Varricchio stressed.
Varricchio also recalled the scholar's strong civic commitment "which has taken concrete form with various appointments, as a member of the Berlin Comites, as a councillor of the General Council of Italians Abroad, and most recently as a consultant for the province of Trento, always managing to combine a scientific and open approach in analysing the various issues dear to the Italian community in Germany".
