(ANSA) - BUCAREST, 02 NOV - Italy and Romania shared experiences and practices of alternative care for children in both countries, as well as ongoing efforts to prevent the separation of children from their families and to complete de-institutionalisation processes. The event was organised by the Italian Embassy in Bucharest in cooperation with the Romanian Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities and UNICEF Romania.
The event, held in Palatul Victoria, seat of the Government of Romania, laid the foundations for the creation of networks of operators in Italy and Romania for the exchange of good practices and the continuous improvement of standards in the field.
"In light of the strong ties between our countries and societies and the fruitful cooperation in several areas, in line with the Strategic Bilateral Partnership re-launched last February, today's conference strengthens our common commitment to improve children's lives and support families" said the Italian Ambassador to Romania Alfredo Durante Mangoni. 'Italy,' he added, 'has developed many good practices in the field of alternative care, including in recent years within the framework of the European Child Guarantee trial. As it will soon be 35 years since the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the exchange of experiences and the development of cooperation in favour of children are of particular importance for both countries'.
