Farnesina, Todaro Marescotti is the new ambassador in Helsinki

(ANSA) - ROMA, 18 NOV - Nicola Todaro Marescotti took up the post of Italian Ambassador to Helsinki today. This was announced in a note by the Farnesina.
    Todaro Marescotti, the note reads, "was born in Rome on 20 April 1969, and graduated with honours in Law from La Sapienza University in Rome in 1993. After practising law and qualifying as a lawyer, following a competitive examination, he was appointed as a Volunteer in the diplomatic career on 3 July 1995. For his first assignments at the Ministry, he is first assigned to the Service for Diplomatic Litigation, Treaties and Legislative Affairs, then to the Directorate General for Economic Affairs.
    In 1998, he was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Warsaw, where he held the position of Head of the Commercial Office. In 2002, he was appointed First Secretary at the Permanent Representation to NATO in Brussels, where he was Head of the Permanent Representative's Secretariat and Delegate to the Political Committee of the Partnership for Peace. In 2006, he returned to Rome to take up his post as Deputy Head of the Analysis and Planning Unit at the General Secretariat of the Farnesina. In 2010 he took up the position of First Counselor at the Italian Embassy in London, where he served as Head of the Press and Cultural Affairs Office. In 2015, he was appointed as First Commercial Counsellor at the Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels. In this capacity, he deals primarily with CFSP/ESDP budgets and International Sanctions. In 2017, he returned to the Ministry, as Head of Office I of the Directorate-General for Political and Security Affairs, responsible for the United Nations System. In early 2022 he takes up the post of Italian Coordinator for the reform of the UN Security Council. From May 2022 he serves as Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister for Universities and Research, and is confirmed at the change of Legislature.
    In 2023 he returned to the Farnesina, to serve as Coordinator for issues related to connectivity and the European Commission's Global Gateway initiative, at the Directorate General for Europe and International Trade Policy. In 2024 he is appointed Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Finland. In 2019 he is appointed Official Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic," the Farnesina note concludes.
