(ANSA) - ROMA, 21 NOV - The celebrations in Georgia of the 9th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World continued with a special event organised by the Italian Embassy, which took place yesterday at the historic National Library of the Georgian Parliament: a conference - strongly attended - with a focus on excellence from Campania and on mozzarella, one of the most famous and popular cheeses in the world, organised by Domenico Raimondo, President of the Consortium for the Protection of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, and aimed at operators in the food and wine sector, including distributors, restaurants and supermarket chains. The conference was followed by a tasting of buffalo mozzarella, one of the most purchased and loved Italian products worldwide.
"What could represent the cuisine of Campania better than buffalo mozzarella, a true excellence of Made in Italy agri-foodstuffs and the undisputed star of the third stage of the important promotional event of the Campania Region in Georgia, which the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi conceived and realised this year," said Italian Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono in his speech.
The event also included the exhibition of the best pasta sculptures made by the pupils of the art school of the Tbilisi committee of the Dante Alighieri Society, as part of the now traditional 'Pasta Works' competition, organised by the embassy together with the committee and now in its sixth edition. The final moment of the event was the award ceremony for the competition's young winning artists.
