(ANSA) - ROMA, 22 NOV - The wide range of activities organised by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the ICE Office in the framework of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, which this year had as its main theme 'Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine. Health and Tradition'.
The various events linked to the promotion of the excellence and benefits of Italian cuisine and food products were made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Embassy and the ICE Office with ALMA, the world's leading international centre for education and training in Italian cuisine and hospitality, based in Parma; Dinner Incredible, a group of Italian chefs for the second time in Saudi Arabia that brings the excellence of Italian cuisine abroad by developing bilateral cultural cooperation in the culinary sector; and the Saudi Royal Protocol and Culinary Arts Commission.
Among the main activities, on Thursday evening the second edition of the Italian Taste Competition took place, a competition among young chefs with a scholarship as a prize that will allow the winner (NAME) to participate in the 'Like an Italian' cooking course at the ALMA headquarters in Italy. On Friday, the Embassy's guests were also able to attend an event dedicated to the promotion of the Mediterranean diet as a dietary model for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and problems, held by Professor of Medicine Domenico Galzerano of Alfaisal University, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty AlKattan and Dr. Naji Kholaif of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh. The presentation was followed by a refined culinary experience, realised with the collaboration of Riyadh's Italian restaurants, which prepared a special menu for the dinner, where Italian products and tradition merged with Saudi culinary heritage.
Ambassador Carlo Baldocci emphasised 'the importance of working on the preservation and promotion of our culinary tradition, not only to enhance the excellence of our products, but also to create common ground with our partners. This is a heritage of knowledge and excellence that we want to export with the aim of bringing 'good food' to everyone, as well as providing support to our businesses'.
During the week, the Italian restaurants in Riyadh participated in the thematic review by preparing a special menu for their guests.
