(ANSA) - IL CAIRO, 23 NOV - Meeting the Italian Ambassador in Tripoli, Gianluca Alberini, Libyan Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour confirmed his participation in the tenth edition of the "Rome Med - Mediterranean Dialogues/Mediterranean Dialogues 2024" at the head of the Libyan delegation. This was reported in a Facebook post by his ministry.
In the meeting, which took place on Thursday, "the two sides underlined the depth of the privileged bilateral relations between the two countries and the friendly peoples" of Libya and Italy, the post goes on to say. "For his part, the ambassador praised the results of the Libyan-Italian Business Forum, held in Tripoli last October" and "conveyed the gratitude and appreciation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the success" of the initiative, the text released yesterday added.
The Mediterranean Dialogues, scheduled this year from 25 to 27 November, present themselves on their website as a 'conference on the Mediterranean, promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ispi (Institute for International Political Studies)' held annually in Rome. Their stated aim is to "rethink traditional approaches to the area, introducing new ideas and suggestions to elaborate a 'positive agenda' for the region, addressing security and socio-economic challenges through common visions".
