(ANSA) - BOGOTÁ, 26 NOV - On the occasion of the IX Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the Italian Embassy in Bogotà, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture and the Ita/Ice - Italian Agency for Foreign Trade, organised a series of initiatives to spread the culture of taste, support the importance of correct food education, and raise awareness of the excellence of Italian cuisine in Colombia, a country that has been the protagonist of a significant economic performance in recent years and has recorded increasing volumes of imports of Italian food and wine products.
On 15 November, at the University of Sinú in Cartagena, a city of one million inhabitants on Colombia's Caribbean coast, the chef of the Italian Federation of Chefs, Carmelo Fabbricatore, held a masterclass for the students of the Faculty of Gastronomy. Following this, the same chef organised a gala dinner in the halls of the University attended by illustrious representatives of political, social and cultural society and the Italian community living in Cartagena, a UNESCO heritage city.
On the evening of 21 November, at the residence of the Italian Ambassador, Giancarlo Maria Curcio, in Bogotá, an event was held in collaboration with the Luigi Garofolo pasta factory dedicated to the promotion of the Mediterranean diet, with the presence of the renowned chef Michele Tomadin, testimonial of Garofalo pasta in the world.
The initiative was attended by more than 400 guests who tasted typical Italian cuisine in the presence of numerous Colombian authorities, the diplomatic corps, and qualified representatives of Colombian and Italian society in Bogotà, testifying to the excellent state of bilateral relations and the appreciation that Italian food and wine culture enjoys in the South American country.
During the same evening, the photographic exhibition organised by the Comites of Bogotà on the historic first visit of the Amerigo Vespucci School Ship to Colombia, in September last year, was also presented.
