Giulia Neri's works and the red bench at the UN in Vienna

(ANSA) - VIENNA, 26 NOV - On the occasion of the International Day against Violence against Women, the Italian Representation to the International Organisations in Vienna brought to the UN Headquarters in Vienna the works of Giulia Neri, an artist from the Farnesina Collection, and the red bench, symbol of the campaign to combat all forms of violence against women.
    Organised together with the network of "International Gender Champions" in Vienna, the exhibition included a series of works focusing on the theme of women's empowerment and gender-based violence, drawing from the collection on display at the Headquarters, which has been temporarily hosting some of the illustrations made available by the artist since the beginning of the year. She also created an original artwork for the event inspired by the 'Orange the World' Campaign, which was presented during the opening and will be used on the Venue's social channels during the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence that kicks off on 25 November.
    At the same time, a red bench was installed at the UN in Vienna, further following up on the initiative promoted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, to symbolise Italy's commitment against violence against women, both in Italy and worldwide. The bench will remain at the Vienna International Center for the duration of the 16 Days campaign.
    The Italian event was part of the broader programme of initiatives promoted by the Vienna International Organisations and was attended by some of their top leaders, including Unido's Director General Gerd Muller and Unodc Executive Director Ghada Waly, as well as numerous member states and civil society representatives.
