Italian athletes at the Oman socca world cup 2024

(ANSA) - ROMA, 06 DIC - The Italian ambassador to Oman, Pierluigi D'Elia, greeted the Italian athletes who participated in the 'Oman socca world cup 2024' (international six-a-side football tournament). The "socca" Azzurri, led by president Claudio Gallinica, honoured the championship by playing the opening match against Oman in the presence of the Omani Undersecretary of State for Sport, Basil Al Rawasi, and passed the qualifying group by finishing in the round of 16 against Croatia.
    Italy is in its second participation in the World Cup organised by the 'international socca federation', in which 40 national teams took part in Oman. President Gallinica expressed to Ambassador D'Elia satisfaction with the welcome received in Oman and highlighted the growth of the movement in Italy and the ambition for further progress in view of the next World Cup in Mexico in 2025.
