(ANSA) - CITTÀ DEL MESSICO, 09 DIC - In a protocol event significant for relations between Mexico and Italy, the mayor of Acapulco, Abelina López Rodríguez, received the head of the consular chancellery of the Italian Embassy in Mexico, Andrea Lay, who visited the coastal city accompanied by Adele Cialona, honorary consular correspondent in the state of Guerrero. The first citizen was accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism, Noé Peralta Herrera.
"I had the honour of receiving in Acapulco the Consul of Italy in Mexico, Andrea Lay Bordoni, and the honorary consular correspondent in Guerrero, Adele Cialona, with whom we spoke about the deep bonds of friendship that exist between our city and their country," the mayor wrote on X.
'During the meeting,' she added, 'we addressed the issues of cultural and economic collaboration and the possibility of promoting common projects. And in the same way we expressed the great affection of the inhabitants of Acapulco towards the international visitor, as well as their willingness to welcome their fellow citizens with a big heart, a big smile, and open arms'.
Lay and Cialona also met with the Minister of Economic Development and the Minister of Tourism of the State of Guerrero, Teodora Ramírez and Simón Quiñones. The latter communicated through his social networks that agreements had been reached to collaborate on the promotion of Italian culture and gastronomy.
The head of the Embassy's Consular Chancellery will inaugurate the new offices of the Honorary Consulate in the state of Guerrero today in Punta Diamante.
