Undersecretary Silli in Paris for monument to Italian migrants

In Nogent-sur-Marne, one of the cradles of historical immigration

(ANSA) - PARIGI, 10 GEN - Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Giorgio Silli, on an official mission to Paris, represented Italy this morning at the inauguration of the monument dedicated to Italian emigration to France in Nogent-sur-Marne, in the eastern banlieue of Paris, one of the cradles of historical Italian immigration.
    In the presence of local and national authorities and the mayors of the twinned Italian municipalities, Under-Secretary Silli emphasised the major role that Italians have historically played in France's socio-economic development, from the earliest times to the present day.
    'The bond between our civil societies transcends history,' said Under-Secretary Silli, 'this monument is a concrete symbol of the sacrifice and work of Italians abroad.
