Terna launches the first Global Scaleup Programme in Tunis

(ANSA) - TUNISI, 13 FEB - Tunisia is strengthening its position as the epicentre of open innovation in North Africa. During the Innovation Summit in Tunis, organised by Terna Innovation Zone, Centro Elis, Mind The Bridge (Mtb) and the International Chamber of Commerce (Icc), Mtb's 'Tech Scaleup Tunisia 2025' report was presented, highlighting how Tunisia is already among the top destinations for innovation in Africa, with 1,450 active start-ups and 17 scaleups. At the Innovation Summit, the first Global Scaleup Programme of the Terna Innovation Zone Tunisia was launched, an initiative to connect Tunisian startups with international networks, expand their market globally and facilitate access to resources and strategic investments. It is a call for the selection of five start-ups in the field of open innovation. The event entitled 'Tunisia, regional hub of open innovation' brought together Tunisian startuppers, academics and decision-makers to discuss various topics, such as the protection of intellectual property in the age of artificial intelligence, how to finance startups and Tunisia as a bridge between Europe and Africa. Mind The Bridge is a project that aims to support and connect startups in Africa and chose Tunisia this year as the destination to launch an open innovation platform. The Summit turned out to be an important meeting to support this developing ecosystem.
    According to Mouna Chaieb, president of the Icc's Digital Economy Commission, Tunisia is the fifth largest exporter of engineers in the world, 45th in the number of researchers and 50th in scientific and ecological achievements of students. Indicators that demonstrate Tunisia's human wealth, despite its economic and social shortcomings. Terna, the company that manages the Italian electricity grid, recently announced the launch of the Terna Innovation Zone Tunisia, a specialised training laboratory to contribute to the progress of the energy sector in the African country.
