(ANSA) - Rome, May 13 - Italy is officially out of recession after Istat said Wednesday that its gross domestic product increased 0.3% in the first quarter of 2015 with respect to the final three months of 2014, according to the national statistics agency's preliminary estimate. The data is better than analysts had expected. Istat said that GDP was flat, however, compared to the same period last year.

The rise is the highest since the first three months of 2011, when the economy grew by 0.4% with respect to the previous quarter.
