(ANSA) - Brussels, June 18 - The EU's commissioner on
immigration spoke out Thursday against Hungary's proposal to
build an anti-immigrant wall separating it from Serbia,
announced Wednesday.
"We have only recently taken down walls in Europe; we
should not be putting them up," said Natasha Bertaud,
spokeswoman for EU immigration commissioner Dimitris
Avramopoulos.
The proposed wall would stand four metres high and run 175
kilometers along the length of the shared border between Hungary
and Serbia.
