(ANSA) - Venice, August 3 - The leader of the small
rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party on Monday called for a
naval blockade off the coast of Africa to prevent migrant
vessels from leaving.
"We need a naval blockade within a European mission," said
FdI president Giorgia Meloni.
"We request support for a European mission in North Africa,
in Libya, to help the legitimate government recover control of
its coasts and ports".
Meloni went on to call for first reception camps to be set
up in Africa "from which to distribute asylum seekers equally"
among EU member nations.
