(ANSA) - Rome, May 9 - Premier Matteo Renzi has admitted
that his Democratic Party (PD) does have to work to do after
several recent corruption probes hit the centre-left group.
"The moral question exists in the PD," Renzi told State
broadcaster RAI on Sunday.
"Those who deny, deny reality. Many do deny it, but it's a
real thing. We have 50,000 administrators and things don't go
right in too many cases".
Renzi reiterated that he did not want to be "dragged" into
a conflict between politicians and the magistrates, after last
week's arrest of the PD mayor of Lodi fuelled talk that elements
in the judiciary could be trying to undermine the government.
But he also stressed that it was important to "always wait
for the verdict" before judging.
