(ANSA) - Rome, May 18 - Matteo Salvini, leader of the
anti-immigrant, rightwing Northern League party, was met with
protests and insults during a visit to a Roma camp in the Rome
neighborhood of Magliana on Wednesday.
Salvini documented the hostile reactions with his
smartphone and posted the video to his Facebook page.
He blew kisses to the crowd as they raised middle fingers
and shouted "get out of here, disgusting" and "vulture".
"They've educated them well. Look at how many classes
without this contribution. I'll leave it to you all to comment
on the desire for integration," he said in the video.
Salvini was awaiting Rome mayoral candidate Giorgia Meloni,
who had been stopped by police at a nearby underground station
for taking a video inside the station with her smartphone to
post on Facebook.
