(ANSA) - Rome, September 27 - The national privacy watchdog
said Tuesday it is investigating WhatsApp after it changed its
privacy policy at the end of August to allow Facebook access to
some user account data, "including for marketing purposes".
The Italian body asked both social media companies to
disclose which data is being shared, how users are asked for
their consent, and what measures are being taken to make sure
rights are respected under Italian law.
It also asked for clarification as to the principle of
finality, since WhatsApp user agreements don't mention the use
of personal data for marketing purposes.
