Room to cut tax wedge in Italy says IMF

Create 'modern' property tax

(ANSA) - Rome, April 19 - There is "room" in Italy and France to cut the so-called labour-tax wedge, the INternational Monetary Fund said Wednesday. The labour-tax wedge is the difference between workers' take-home pay and the total cost to firms to employ them. The IMF added that Italy had an "ample" tax base and should create a "modern" property tax.
