(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 18 - The accountant of chief Qatargate
suspect Antonio Panzeri, Monica Rossana Bellini, was the brains
behind the network of companies used to move and launder the
proceeds of the alleged bribes from the Mideast state, Belgian
magistrates said Wednesday.
Bellini, the Panzeri family's accountant, was allegedly the
architect of the corporate network used to move and launder the
alleged corruption money, they said in their arrest warrant for
the 55-year-old Italian.
Another Italian, Francesco Giorgi, a former collaborator of
Panzeri's, reportedly spoke of the role played by the
accountant.
Bellini, who was arrested in Milan, left the northern city's San
Vettore Prison and was placed under house arrest Wednesday.
At the end of the month there will be a hearing in the Court of
Appeal in Milan to decide on her extradition to Belgium. (ANSA).
