(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 27 - France is launching a nuclear power
alliance aimed at cutting its carbon footprint and that of 12
other countries including Italy, diplomatic sources said Monday.
"On the sidelines of the informal Energy Council in Stockholm,
we will bring together tomorrow all the countries that have a
place in European nuclear power, which will be one of the tools
along with renewables to achieve our carbon neutrality
objectives", said the French Minister for Energy Transition,
Agnes Pannier-Runacher, in the Swedish capital for the first day
of work with her European counterparts.
"The aim is to create the nuclear alliance and to send a strong
signal in the various EU negotiations," she pointed out.
Italy has a ban on nuclear power after a referendum on the
issue. (ANSA).
