(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 9 - Italo-Belgian MEP Marc Tarabella and
the Italian parliamentary assistant Francesco Giorgi, partner of
Greek European Parliament Vice President Eva Kaili, were
released from house arrest on parole in the Qatargate case
Tuesday.
The pair had been under house arrest after several months in
prison in the case of alleged bribes to condition EP affairs
from Qatar, Morocco and Mauritania.
Giorgi is the former right hand man of MEP turned informant Pier
Antonio Panzeri as well as the partner of Kaili, the
highest-profile official arrested in the case.
Tarabella and Giorgi will no longer be required to wear an
electronic tracking ankle bracelet.
