(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 2 - Centre-right Forza Italia (FI) MEP Lara Comi was sentenced Monday to four years and two months in Milan in the 'maxi trial' against more than 60 defendants in the so-called 'Mensa dei poveri' (soup kitchen) kickbacks case.
The Fi exponent in November 2019 had ended up under house arrest, later revoked, on charges of corruption, false invoicing and fraud against the European Parliament.
Over 60 people were on trial in relation to alleged kickbacks in Lombardy.
In total over 100 people were implicated in relation to a probe into an alleged system of bribes, rigged public contracts and appointments, and illegal party funding in Lombardy.
Also in the dock were former Milan city councillor and FI's former Lombardy deputy coordinator Pietro Tatarella and Lombardy councillor and fellow FI member Fabio Altitonante.
