(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 2 - Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi
said Monday his ministry would appeal Sunday's migrant decree
ruling in Catania freeing three migrants on the grounds the
government's recent migrant decree was illegitimate and in
contrast with EU norms.
"The conditions are in place to challenge the Catania ruling.
From the reading of the act we are convinced that we have
grounds to appeal," said Piantedosi speaking at the end of the
Committee for Order and Security chaired in Imperia, replying to
those who asked him for a comment on the Catania sentence.
Premier Giorgia Meloni has said she is astonished at the ruling
while Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini has
accused the judge of bias. (ANSA).
