(see related) (ANSA) - ROME, OCT 3 - Premier Giorgia Meloni said Tuesday that the government was not at war with Italy's judiciary after she and other members of the ruling coalition criticized a Catania judge over a ruling in which the administration's legislation on migrants was declared illegitimate.
"There is no clash with the judiciary," Meloni told reporters in Turin.
    "I say what I think.
"This issue concerns a specific ruling'.
On Monday Premier Giorgia Meloni said she was "astounded" by the decision not to keep three migrants in a CPR pre-expulsion centre and asserted that "part of Italy is doing everything it can to favour illegal immigration".
The interior ministry said it would challenge the ruling.
Italian magistrates union ANM, meanwhile, on Tuesday stood up for the judge at the centre of the storm and said statements by members of the executive and the ruling coalition undermine the "independence and autonomy" of the judiciary. (ANSA).
