Israeli ambassador thanks Mattarella for 'clear support'

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 7 - Israeli Ambassador to Italy Alon Bar on Saturday thanked President Sergio Mattarella for his "clear and explicit message of support for Israel" following the surprise massive rocket attack by Hamas from Gaza starting early Saturday morning in which medical sources now say over 100 Israelis have been killed and around 900 injured.
    "We are very grateful for the thousands of messages of support we are receiving from politicians, officials, partners, friends and also from other Italians who follow the news and do not remain indifferent. Thank you all," wrote Bar on X.
    Bar said he had also spoken to centre-left opposition democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein, who "expressed solidarity with Israel and condemned the terrorist attack by Hamas". (ANSA).
