Sisi has invited Meloni to Cairo peace summit - ambassador

(see related) (ANSA) - ROME, OCT 18 - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has invited Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni to Saturday's Cairo peace summit on Gaza, Egypt's Ambassador to Italy Bassam Rady told ANSA on Wednesday.
    "Egypt is enthusiastic about Italy's participation in the Cairo peace summit," Rady said in a message to ANSA.
    He said the invitation had been made "in order to ensure the presence of our friend Italy as a pivotal country on the international and regional scene under the strong and influential leadership of Giorgia Meloni".
    "We are very grateful to Egypt for the invitation," say Italian premier's office sources, adding that the invitation was being evaluated "at this delicate international moment". (ANSA).
