(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 26 - Italy won't tolerate the return of
antisemitism, President Sergio Mattarella said Friday on the eve
of Saturday's Holocaust Remembrance Day.
"The dead of Auschwitz continually admonish us: the path of
mankind proceeds along rough and risky roads," he said at a
pre-Memory Day event at the Quirinale presidential palace.
"This is also manifested by the return, in the world, of
dangerous instances of anti-Semitism: of prejudice that traces
ancient anti-Jewish stereotypes, reinforced by social media
without control or modesty.
"The Italian Jewish communities know that Italy is their home
and that the Republic, of which they are an integral part, will
not tolerate, in any way, threats, intimidation and bullying
against them." (ANSA).
