UN's Albanese wrong about Oct 7 attacks says Tajani

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 13 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday that he disagreed with an Italian United Nations official whom Israel had barred entry to over her comments about the October 7 massacres by Hamas.
    On Monday the Israeli foreign and interior ministries said it had banned UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese over "her outrageous assertions that the victims of the October 7 massacre were not killed for being Jewish but in response to Israeli oppression".
    Tajani told Radio1 that "I don't agree with Francesca Albanese's words because Hamas's attack was an military attack that aimed to hunt the Jew and had inhuman outcomes, with unseen violence and profanation of corpses.
    "What Ms Albanese says is not right and I understand Israel's reaction," he continued..
    "It is necessary to be prudent when faced with a conflict".
    On Monday Albanese said that Israel's "atrocities" were reaching a new level of horror with the bombing of people in the 'safe areas' of Rafah, the southern Gaza city that is the last haven for Palestinians there.
    The 47-year-old from Avellino near Naples said on X: "Israel's "denying me entry" is not news: Israel has denied entry to ALL Special Rapporteurs/oPt since 2008! "This must not become a distraction from Israel's atrocities in Gaza, which are taking a new level of horror with the bombing of people in 'safe areas' in #Rafah." (ANSA).
