(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 27 - Sardina's election of centre-left
governor and 5-Star Movement (M5S) bigwig Alessandra Todde is a
personal defeat for Premier Giorgia Meloni who campaigned hard
for her rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) defeated candidate and
Cagliari Mayor Paolo Truzzu, M5S leader and former premier
Giuseppe Conte told Italian TV Tuesday.
"This is the new wind from Sardinia, which blows from Sardinia
towards the Italian mainland," he told L'Aria che Tira.
"This means that, if we manage to build a serious and credible
project that is convincing for the citizens, we can win and be
competitive without electoral cartels", he said.
"This is a personal defeat for Meloni.
"Giorgia Meloni here has put her own face on it, Cagliari and
Sardinia is still full of giant photos of Meloni, saying she's
proud and strong," (ANSA).
