(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 28 - Italian Deputy Premier and Foreign
Minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday that "we are absolutely
opposed to the attack" by Israel on Rafah and called for an
"immediate ceasefire" in the city in the south of the Gaza
Strip.
He added that "by launching missiles from Rafah, Hamas is only
doing enormous harm to the Palestinian people".
On Monday Tajani said that Israel had made a mistake and fallen
into a trap set by Hamas amid international condemnation of its
strike on tents housing displaced people in Rafah in which
dozens of people were killed.
The Israeli army said senior Hamas officials were killed in the
strike.
"Hamas is using Rafah to create further problems, luring Israel
into a media trap," Tajani said. (ANSA).
