(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 24 - Former minister Adriana Poli Bortone
of the centre-right is the new mayor of Lecce, leading a centre
right ticket to victory in the mayoral run-offs Sunday and
Monday.
She narrowly beat the outgoing centre-left mayor Carlo Salvemini
with a not yet final percentage (93 out of 102 sections) of
50.52%.
Former Lecce mayor Poli Bortone, 80, was Farm Minister for
Silvio Berlusconi's first government in 1994.
The Senator was formerly Lecce mayor from 1998 to 2007. (ANSA).
