2nd FdI youth official quits in 'Fascism' row

MP's secretary Elisa Segnini quits after Flaminia Pace

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 27 - A second official in Gioventù Nazionale (GN, National Youth), the youth wing of Premier Giorgia Meloni's rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, resigned from her post as cabinet secretary to an FdI MP after an undercover journalism probe recorded her saying she had "never stopped being racist and Fascist".
Elisa Segnini, secretary to FdI's leader on the House budget committee, Ylenja Lucaselli, followed the resignation of top GN official Flaminia Pace who was caught on the Fanpage video saying it was "great to take the piss over the swastikas" after having drafted a statement of solidarity with FdI Senator and former Rome Jewish community spokeswoman Ester Mieli.
The Fanpage probe, titled 'Melonian Youth' has rocked Meloni's party just as the premier is seeking to cement her reputation for moderation on the EU stage, while asserting the Right's right to count more in European appointments after it made gains in the European elections this year.
Meloni has repeatedly praised GN in the past as model political youngsters. (ANSA).
