(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 27 - There is no room for anti-semites in Premier Giorgio Meloni's Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, party founder and bigwig, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, said after two National Youth (GN) members quit Thursday after mocking FdI Senator and former Rome Jewish community spokeswoman Ester Mieli in an undercover journalism report by Fanpage.
"I want to express my total solidarity and sympathy with Senator Ester Mieli, the victim of intolerable insults, which cannot be ignored," he said.
"In the party of which I was proudly one of the founders there can be no space for people, words and thoughts like those I have heard.
"Immediate and exemplary measures must be taken, as the FdI directorate has already announced. It is imperative to react with toughness. Sorry, Ester, in the name of all of us". (ANSA).
