Italy supports EU car duties, Tajani tells China's Wang

We're ready to cooperate on SMEs says foreign minister

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 16 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reiterated Italy's support for EU duties on imports of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from China during a meeting with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao in Rome on Monday.
    "I reiterated to the minister Italy's willingness to cooperate with this great country, which is an interlocutor but also a competitor on international markets," Tajani said after the meeting.
    "I reiterated Italy's position on duties on cars - we support the position of the EU. "We are ready to collaborate on small and medium-sized enterprises with very positive initiatives that we have agreed on and that we will also reiterate during President (Sergio) Mattarella's visit to Beijing, which I will accompany him on (ANSA).
