(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 18 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Wednesday that the government does not need a cabinet reshuffle, with European Affairs Minister Raffaele Fitto set to leave the government to become an executive vice president of the European Commission.
"I am strongly against any type of reshuffle," Forza Italia leader Tajani told Radio1.
"It was not necessary to replace (Gennaro) Sangiuliano," he continued, referring to the former culture minister who recently quit over a scandal over an affair he had with a would-be advisor and was substituted by conservative journalist Alessandro Giuli.
"A reshuffle isn't necessary. There is no political problem within the ruling coalition".
Tajani added that Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti has spoken to him and ruled out imposing a windfall tax on bank's extraordinary profits in the 2025 budget law, something the FI chief is opposed to. (ANSA).
