(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 16 - Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar
Veldkamp said Wednesday that the Netherlands is interested in
the model created by the agreement Rome reached with Tirana to
set up Italian migrant centres on Albanian territory.
I believe the Italian policies (on migrants) are in line with
what EU leaders agreed several years ago," Veldkamp said after
meeting his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani in Rome.
"We do not intend to join the specific Italy-Albania agreement
but we look at it with great interest because we also want to
explore new ideas and possibilities of new places to control
migration flows.
"Italy has done all this within the framework of European law
and within the human rights convention.
"We need to innovate and think outside the box".
