(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - The interior ministry on Tuesday
instructed State attorneys to appeal against last Friday's
ruling by a Rome court's immigration branch scrubbing the
detention of the first 12 migrants to be sent to a processing
centre in Albania on grounds they did not come from wholly safe
countries, Bangladesh and Egypt.
The legal basis of the appeal will be that the court failed to
apply the government's list of safe countries, which includes
Bangladesh and Egypt, sources said.
The government has now drawn up a 'primary' law listing 19
countries, including Egypt and Bangladesh, as safe and has said
courts cannot rule against it on the basis of the October 4
European Court of Justice ruling which found that not all the
territories of the two countries were safe.
